There is not rationalizing the obsession Star Wars geeks have with the movie series. The same can apply when it comes to the collector crap.
The Darth Vader Robotic Arm comes disassembled in 45 different parts. All you need to do is snap the pieces together and you’ll be one step closer to Sith status. Despite it being called a “robotic arm”, this toy is all manually orchestrated. It can be manipulated to hold “light objects”, or perhaps give a Sith Lord finger to anyone standing in its way. It will probably make a great holiday gift, even for the non-Star Wars fan.
Thinkgeek has it for $40.

Technological innovation in health care is an important driver of cost growth. Doctors and patients often embrace new modes of treatment before their merits and weaknesses are fully understood. These technologies can lead to increases in costs, either because they are simply more expensive than previous treatments or because their introduction leads to an expansion in the types and numbers of patients treated. We examined these patterns as they apply to the case of robot-assisted surgery.
Robotic surgical devices allow a surgeon at a console to operate remote-controlled robotic arms, which may facilitate the performance of laparoscopic procedures. Laparoscopic surgery, in turn, is associated with shorter hospital stays than open surgery, a...

Pinboard, a site profiled on TNW in March, is a service described as, “a bookmarking website for people who want to reliably keep track of the things they find online. The focus of the site is less on socializing, and more on maintaining a personal archive of useful information.”
What does that mean to you, the user? “Each time you save a bookmark, or put something on your to read list, Pinboard will crawl the URL and store a permanent copy of the page to your account.”
To get started on Pinboard, users can pay a one-time signup fee, currently $6.47, which goes up by a small amount with each new signup. The fee is based on the formula (number of users * $0.001), so the earlier you join, the less you pay.
In addition, users can also choo...
